PERSONAL TRAINER GAMEThe most important thing a personal trainer can do if they are going to succeed in personal training, especially if they are independent personal trainers, is the personal training game. Personal Trainer MarketingThe personal training game is to market your self, your personal training abilities, and your personal training services. To succeed in your personal training business, you must market your personal training abilities, as in any other businesses of course, and may be even more. The reason for this is because, especially in larger cities, there are many personal trainers out there also playing the personal trainer game and marketing the heck out of themselves. I find most of the most successful personal trainers, in other words, with the most number of personal trainer clients and with the highest personal trainer salary, know very little about personal training, fitness, and exercise, and a whole lot about business marketing. Sad, but true. Especially since I have to fix them after they saw one of these personal trainers. Personal Training MarketingThere is also another aspect to personal training in the personal training game. I noticed many personal trainers cajoling with their personal training clients, socializing, drinking coffee, having a good ole time. At first, personally, I would like to knock this. For me, I like fast efficient results for my personal training clients. But I do understand, some people hire personal trainers also to socialize. I’ve learned this a long time ago when I started personal training. I remember some clients just wanting to talk, which I did. I learned later on that some people need more help at first mentally, then they start exercising, and things get easier for them. Sure, some of my personal training clients are already motivated, ramped up to go right when I first see them. Some do need some fitness and exercise motivation. I actually really enjoyed this aspect of personal training. It reminds me of psychology counseling, although I'm not a psychologist and wouldn’t offer any kind of advice of that nature. I would just see what was hindering them from doing their best in the health club and remove that obstacle, which was usually just fear of failure. And then I would motivate them to their highest potential. |
